2017  Needle Art Seminar:  Friday, May 5 – Wednesday, May 10, 2017

REGISTRATION FOR CLASSES: Will be accepted BY MAIL, FAX or EMAIL on or after JANUARY 9, 2017.

West Torch Lake Drive, Kewadin, MI 49648, fax to: 231-264-8129 or email to: All class attendees are required to stay at Grand Hotel and a hotel registration form (mail in only) will be provided once you have registered for your classes. Your class reservation will not be held if you do not stay at the hotel. A hotel stay is not required to attend the Lecture and Reception Friday and Saturday nights. If classes are full, there will be a waiting list.

Susan Carlson from Susan Carlson Quilts in Harpswell, ME

Susan has been teaching for 20 years nationally and internationally. She has been a quilter for 25 years and developed her own technique of fabric collage quilting which she details in two of her books, Free-Style Quilts and Serendipity Quilts.

Laura Heine from Fiberworks Quilt Shop in Billings, MT.

Laura’s work has gone on to win numerous prestigious awards, among them being the $10,000.00 purchase award from American Quilters Society for her Quilt One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Her patterns and quilting techniques have been published and her fabric design collections are much sought after.  She designed the Fusion threads for YLI Corporation and she is an educator for them as well as travels all over the U.S. teaching and sharing her techniques.

Lisa Bongean from Primitive Gatherings Quilt Shop in Menasha, WI.

Lisa loves to quilt.  Lisa and her husband Nick own Primitive Gatherings Quilt Shop in WI and CA and travel the US going to the big quilting shows where she has the opportunity to teach and share her quilts across the country along with quilting guilds and other shops.

Michele Mueller from Wildhare Rug Studio in Elk Rapids, MI

Michele owns Wildhare Rug Studio offering classes, patterns, kits, books, quality wool, rug yarn and supplies. Michele describes the technique as “very calming” as you “paint and draw” using her rug hooking technique. Michele became certified as a rug hooking teacher in Vermont which honed her skills for needle punch and her passion is contagious!

Susan K. Cleveland, a quilter, designer, and teacher from West Concord, MN.

Susan’s quilts have received many awards in international competitions since 1997 where judges comment on fine workmanship and original style. She invented the Groovin’ Piping Trimming Tool which is used to trim piping seam allowances and the Prairie Pointer pressing tool. In 2010 she was named Minnesota Quilter of the Year!
